Episode 69: WonderCon Anaheim and Conventioning in the US

Play

Maurice and Richard are back for another discussion episode.  The subject this time is our recent visit to WonderCon in Anaheim (right next to Disneyland).  It’s a good chunk of talk time.  Listen in and enjoy.

Highlights of our talk include the following:

  • Cosplay photography
  • Prometheus (Damon Lindelof, Ridley Scott, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender)
  • Snow White and The Huntsman (Charlize Theron, Kirsten Stewart)
  • Looper (Joseph Gordon Levitt) from the director of Brick and Brothers Bloom.
  • Sound of My Voice from the filmmakers behind Another Earth.
  • Cabin in the Woods (Joss Whedon, Drew Goddard)
  • Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (Benjamin Walker, Timur Bekmambetov)
  • Resident Evil: Retribution (Milla Jovovich, Paul W.S. Andersen)

Additional Show Notes:

  1. Correction: When I repeatedly referred to Future Wars as a movie Ridley Scott might be working on, I actually meant The Forever War.  Based on a book about a soldier who lives through centuries of a war between humanity and an alien race.
  2. Our WonderCon Cosplay photo gallery if you haven’t seen the pics yet.
  3. Forgot to mention that Maggie Grace spoke briefly about Taken 2. She suggested (hopefully jokingly) that she does the saving this time as Liam Neeson and Famke Janssen who play her parents are the abductees this time.
  4. Check out Richard’s online comicbook, St. Shawshank’s Infant School.
  5. He’s also got a number of indie films and shorts available to watch. Check them out on the Waking Dreams vimeo page.
