Robert Valley is no stranger to animation having worked in the medium on promotional work for DC Comics Wonder Woman micro-shorts, the Harmonix Dance Central video games for the XBOX 360 Kinect, and probably to some he’s most famously recognizable as the design influence behind the band GORILLAZ visual alter-egos. Those were jobs for hire though.
Seems that work has given him the bug and he’s been working up something more substantial of his own.
Pear Cider and Cigarettes is based on a story he created that appeared in his self-published book, Massive Swerve. It tells the fantastical tale of his childhood friend, Techno.
He’s recently released a “trailer” for the animated film though as trailers go, this feels much more like a mood piece than a real trailer. Either way, the footage gives us a good idea of what to expect from the full length work when it arrives. No word on that.
