Rather than a complete regurgitation of the presentation in this video. I’ll give a quick list of the new cinema lenses announced (and shown off).
- Distagon 15mm T2.9
- Sonnar 135mm T2.1
- Compact Zoom 70-200mm T2.9 (their first zoom lens in the CP.2 line — they’re actually labeling it CZ)
- Distagon 35mm T1.5
- Planar 50mm T1.5
- Planar 85mm T1.5
Unlike pretty much any other manufacturer, these lenses were purpose built to be interchangeable between different camera manufacturers. You simply unscrew and switch out the mount points to allow your lens to fit on Nikon F mount, Canon EF mount, Micro 4/3rd mounts, or even PL mounts.
The lenses have been designed from the ground up to work on anything from full frame DSLRs to big boy toys like the Super 35 sensored RED 6K cinema camera. Ofcourse you will pay a premium for the privilege of owning these lenses (they cost around $4,500 each), but your lenses will be able to work on your future cameras. Something that can’t be said for any other manufacturers offerings.
