The newly assimilated Oculus team has concluded their official unveiling of their VR headset The Rift. The buzz leading into next week’s E3 has been about what Virtual Reality gaming would actually look and play like in it’s finished form and about what new experiences it would bring to the world of gaming. The sad news is that Oculus’ keynote today shows that not much will be changing come Q1 2016 when the system is set for release. It’s a little akin to what 3D filmmaking did for 2D theater-going; it’s cool, but really not much has changed.
That said, it doesn’t mean that we can’t still expect to play some fun games. Case in point; Insomniac Games, makers of Ratchet & Clank and the recent Sunset Overdrive have a new platform adventure game called Edge of Nowhere. It reeks of HP Lovecraft’s At The Mountains of Madness and we love them for it.
