First Issue: Klaus

Writer: Grant Morrison

Art: Dan Mora

Story: Klaus, a Huntsman trying to sell his wears, comes across a once friendly town now run by a tyrant with a spoilt child. Despite the season all the men-folk are forced to mine while the children are banned from playing with toys. Here Klaus is robbed by the town’s guard and unceremoniously thrown out on his ear and nearly murdered. Swearing justice for the town, Klaus goes through an unusual encounter in the forest that might change his destiny forever.

Why read it?: Trippy, fan favourite legend, Grant Morrison, has been doing more and more creator owned stuff of late, and for Boom Studios he’s decided to re-write the Santa Klaus myth as a kind-of Conan style heroic fantasy story but with the addition of a close encounter in true Morrison style. Like the excellent Happy, this promises to be one of Morrison’s more concise stories, and one infused with as much humour as it is mentalness and badassery.
