First Issue: I Hate Fairyland

I hate fairylandWriter/art: Skottie Young

Colour: Jean-Francois Beaulieu

The story: Young Gertrude is whisked to a magical land where she is tasked by a fairy princess to embark on a magical quest; thirty-some years later and physically unchanged, Gertrude is yet to complete her quest and instead has cracked and become a violent psychopath; the bane of Fairyland.

Why read it?: Skottie Young is currently one of the pre-eminent cartoonists on the planet. Gaining recognition on Marvel’s critically acclaimed adaptations of L. Frank Baum’s Oz books, Young is now putting those skills to use on a creator owned book with a truly vicious sense of humour that will have you laughing out loud. Ultra violence has never looked so imaginatively delightful or cute.
