First Issue: Doctor Strange

Story: Stephen Strange, Master of the Mystical Arts, Sorcerer Supreme, is going about his day to day life; vanquishing demons, having drinks with other magicians, when puzzle pieces fall into place indicating that the latest rash of demonic appearances seem to suggest that rather than trying to take over our dimension, they’re running away from something far more scary.

Why read it?: Doctor Strange, a character sadly lacking in quality storylines of note, will have a Great Big Marvel Movie adaptation coming out next year, so to get a bit of interest generated Marvel have put their big guns onto the latest series, namely Jason Aaron, a veteran of respected runs on Wolverine, Ghost Rider and Thor, not to mention the brilliant creator owned projects Scalped and Southern Bastards, and Chris Bachalo, one of the quirkiest artists in the business, who combines cartoony characters with ridiculous detail in page layouts of vast imagination. Both find interesting new ways to approach every character they work on, so this series promises to be amongst the best of Marvel’s company-wide reboot.
